The Ranch

Finca Esperanza is a state-of-the-art, FSC-certified teak (Tectona grandis) plantation in the heart of the Nicoya Peninsula.  It extends over 172 lush hectares, with current and projected teak coverage of 90 hectares and a further 11 hectares of gmelina (Gmelina arborea).  The plantation is situated at the confluence of the Bijagua and Ario rivers, which provide the property with the deep, rich alluvial soils ideal for the growth of premium teak. In addition to the rivers that surround it, supplies of fresh water are abundant on the property, including two year-round streams and a well with strong artesian pressure. The property also receives municipal electricity and has a bunkhouse in daily use.

Located 18 km from the  FSC-certified mill in Cóbano and 46 km from the ferry terminal at Paquera, the plantation is ideally placed for the delivery of timber to local, domestic, and international markets.

The softly sloping hills that flank the property also give panaramic views of the valley and provide ideal sites for a country home.
