Finca Esperanza is thus optimally located, stocked, and managed to produce the highest possible volume and quality of teak over the course of its projected commercial cycle. Having achieved the cost- and labor-intensive job of establishment, all that remains is to perform basic plantation maintenance, including weeding, monitoring and treatment of possible agricultural pests and diseases, periodic pruning, and pre-commercial and commercial thinning. As the teak progresses through its production cycle, immediate sources of commercial development abound on the property, including large reserves of readily exploitable river stone and gravel, which mineralogy reports have identified as commercially viable and for which there is strong local demand in the construction trades. Outcroppings of rippable basaltic bedrock have also been identified, tested, and tentatively certified for use as base for planned regional road projects.
